HitTail

Okay, so I've been using HitTail on my blog for about a month and I've found out a few things about this site.  First of all, people come here for the most random things like Wildwood's "Watch the Tram Car, Please."  One blog entry can really monopolize rarely-searched keywords.  I also found topics that got people here by accident but that I'd love to rank highly on, like "Sweet Ultimate Frisbee Pics."

For those of you who are not familiar with HiTail, it's a new free service that allows you to see who is coming to your website and from where.  So I can find out what search terms are leading to my site.  Even better, I can find out which ones bring people, but only the people who go 3 or more pages into the search results, a rare occurance these days.  Those are the terms I can work on to bring more people.  For instance, I'll have to start including some commentary and images for sweet ultimate frisbee pics because I'd love to be the site that people come to for that sort of stuff.  That way, I'll rank higher on that phrase and more searchers will find me.  Anyway, HitTail is a very useful tool and really easy to implement.  This is brand new and tons of fun.  And the more you use it to figure out what direction you may want to take your blog in, the more results you'll get.

HitTail would also be of great interest for businesses looking for what customers are searching for, but I find just on a level of curiousity about my blog traffic, I'm hooked.

Priceline on YouTube

There are a couple of really cute tutorial/ad pieces that Priceline has posted on YouTube.  They're very retro and worth checking out if you have a chance.  One of them is animated and one of them is with William Shatner.  I just wanted to share in case you were intrested.  Here are the links:

Smurfs?

There is a debate raging over at Yahoo about the origin of eyebrows and their fate in a million years.  It's a bit amusing and I read some of the posts until I got bored.  Over a thousand people thought they had something interesting to say on the subject.  I'd wager that a few dozen actually did have unique comments that were worth reading.  However, one person did have the above quote which amused me.  I did not add my voice to the fray since I don't think I have much worthwhile to add.

Anyway, I hope all is well.  I'll write something a bit more substantial later on.  Cheers!

I haven't written in a while.  Mainly because there hasn't been all that much going on.  I had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend, going to the shore and kayaking with dolphins.  Well, I was kayaking with Chris, but we saw dolphins while we were out.  I've been trying out for things in DC, but with little luck.  It's so much easier just to stay in the apartment.  Yet that leads back to my currently uneventful life, living, working, and playing right here in the apartment.  So it goes.  I have a week until my next book club meeting, but have not yet gotten the book.  Oh and wedding stuff is going well.  I just placed my invitation order.  That's about it, not too much going on.  I've had some columns on words that I've been meaning to write, but perhaps another time.  Oh, and I plan to go see X-Men 3, so I'll let you know how it is.  The Da Vinci Code has been universally panned and it got way too much hype, so I think I'm going to stay away from that, at least until it comes out on video.  It's too bad since the book was entertaining and sounded like a ready-made movie.  Ah well.  And I found wedding shoes!!  They're white flats that are decorated with multi colored beading.  They are handmade Indian shoes and are pretty and fun, fitting the mood of the wedding really well.  I don't even go shopping anymore; I get everything online.
